Overview

Pho Mi Asia is a reliable gem nestled on 1008 Wilson Ave in North York, offering authentic Vietnamese cuisine that has served its community faithfully for over a decade. Specializing in traditional pho, this family-run restaurant is praised for its hearty broths and expertly cooked noodles, highlighting classics like Rare Beef and Well-Done Brisket Pho and the richly spiced Bún Bò Huế. Each bowl reflects a careful balance of flavors, often accompanied by fresh herbs and crisp bean sprouts that add brightness to the savory depths of their signature soups.

The menu extends beyond pho to include a variety of Vietnamese dishes capturing a broad spectrum of tastes—from the light and refreshing Grilled Chicken Salad to the savory textures of Banh Xeo, the Vietnamese crepe. Grilled pork and other grilled specialties also stand out, showcasing skillful barbecue techniques that infuse the dishes with smoky, well-seasoned notes. For those seeking comfort in a bowl, their Beef Congee and Beef Lemongrass Vermicelli present a delightful alternative offering warmth and complex layers of flavor.

Ambiance-wise, Pho Mi Asia offers an unpretentious dining space that prioritizes a straightforward culinary experience over frills. The atmosphere may occasionally feel casual, with the staff engaging among themselves in Vietnamese, lending a genuine touch of cultural immersion though sometimes at the expense of polished service. The seating is cozy, perfect for intimate meals or quiet lunches, serving mostly locals and pho enthusiasts who appreciate authenticity over speed or style.

Customer feedback reflects a loyal base drawn by consistent quality and the robust, soothing nature of the pho. Longtime patrons commend the enduring flavors—served piping hot and complemented by traditional condiments like lime, chili, and fresh herbs—that make returning here a comforting ritual. While some mention smaller portions and minor service quirks, the overall sentiment favors the restaurant’s steadfast commitment to flavor and tradition.

For anyone passionate about genuine Vietnamese pho and classic dishes prepared with care, Pho Mi Asia stands as one of North York’s most dependable options. Its focus on time-honored recipes, approachable setting, and a broad menu offers both newcomers and seasoned diners a taste of Vietnam that feels both familiar and satisfying.

Honestly it was a lot better than we had expected, given the low rating. The noodles were cooked right, the broth was hearty, and the ingredients were fine. Bean sprouts and other herbs were fresh. The portion is on the small end though. The things I didn’t like were that the table smelled (due to the damp towel) and the staff kept talking to each other very loudly in their own language (I didn’t mind at all but thought it might bother others). The staff were not that friendly (it was just two of us and the server placed my husband’s pho right beside mine, not to my husband who was just sitting across me). I think generally it’s the most solid pho place in the area and I would come back.

Their grill chicken is one of the best in town. I also like their beef broth for Pho.

Been frequenting this Vietnamese restaurant for the past 15 years, pho always piping hot and consistent in taste, served with lavender and lemon grass never to disappoint. Don't know if the same cook has been there all along but happy to have enjoyed this family-run place so long. Even the head server is the same. Always stuck to simple soft beef tendon pho (#240) and fried spring rolls because that's why I come here. Sides of green tea and chili options allow one to ramp up the heat as much as one can handle.

This Vietnamese is good with a variety of fresh spring rolls, phos and other Vietnamese goodies really the best I've ever tried. Their soups are good, the portions are generous and the price is fair. We visited this place on a cold evening and whenever the door opened, the cold drift filled the place. I hope they can fix it.
